OVERVIEW

Journey is a social app that encourages users to follow their interests and connect with like-minded individuals.In this case study, I dive into the end-to-end process of setting up a community on Journey.

PROBLEM

Creators and influencers often struggle to effectively monetize and customize the content they create. Most digital community platforms treat setup as a generic, one-size-fits-all process—offering limited options for creators to define their business model, content structure, or branding upfront. This leads to friction, missed revenue opportunities, and communities that feel disconnected from the creator’s vision

Increase creator activation and retention by making it easier to launch, personalize, and monetize a community from day one—ultimately driving platform revenue through creator success.

The redesigned setup flow addresses key friction points for creators—offering monetization and customization upfront. The new experience is expected to improve creator activation, reduce drop-off during onboarding, and lead to more successfully launched paid communities.

The opportunity to attract: influencers, Whatsapp group creators, & Facebook group creators.

1) Surveys were conducted among 25 respondents -Influencers & Community group leaders.

Believe other digital community platforms are difficult to monetize.

Would like to create a new revenue stream that doesn't involve 'selling their soul'.

2) User interviews were conducted with 10 participants, all influencers or community leaders.
